Statement on Solar in Madison County

On November 25 the Madison County Commission rejected a proposal to extend a moratorium on large-scale solar projects for one year. Instead, commissioners voted for a six-month freeze. Below is the statement on the decision by Hoosiers for Renewables Executive Director Steve Eberly on the vote:

“During the six-month moratorium on new solar projects in Madison County, the solar farm at the Indianapolis Airport will generate enough electricity to power more than 700 Hoosier homes for an entire year. The sun shines just as brightly in Anderson as it does in Indianapolis, so we hope the Madison county commissioners will do what they can to encourage renewable energy when the opportunity for solar projects comes up again.”
