Renewables and First Responders

Payments from renewable energy projects are helping fund improvements for first responders in several rural communities.

Benton County

In Benton County, revenue from wind farms have contributed more than $26 million for first responders.  These funds were used for:

Hiring additional paramedics

Training for EMTs

Upgrades to emergency vehicles

New vehicles for the Sheriff’s department

Purchase of new rescue equipment

White County

EDP Renewables committed $300,000 to support local community projects in White County, supporting volunteer fire departments, community parks, downtown beautification, and more

LaGrange County

LaGrange County, through its future Cherry Hill Project, is projecting a contribution of up to $9 million over its lifetime to local schools, $5 million in local taxes and $500,000  to local fire departments.
